Program Overview

Session I (high school and up): This advanced level camp is for serious young pedal harpists seeking an intense week of technical study in pedal harp. Students receive daily private lessons and chamber music coaching with renowned faculty, attend workshops on topics such as practice techniques and improvisation, and perform in a concert at the end of the week.

Session II (ages 12 and up): Our intermediate to advanced level camp is for younger harpists studying either level or pedal harp. Students receive daily private lessons and supervised practice sessions, develop inner rhythm through Dalcroze eurythmic classes, and participate in harp ensemble. Session II students also present a concert on the final day of camp.

Student Testimonials

“Last summer I attended the Pacific Harp Institute Summer session, and really enjoyed my time there. Daily lessons and other harp/music classes helped me to learn and grow as a harpist, and working with the chamber group was both a great experience and a lot of fun! The masterclass and end recital gave us an opportunity to share the chamber and solo music we had worked on. The Pacific Harp Institute camp was a great combination of learning more with the harp in solo and chamber settings, learning more about music and just having fun, and I hope to come back again!”

“I found my week at PHI’s summer camp to be an enriching experience. It was great being among other young harpists and I learned a lot from the excellent instructors. I improved in all areas of harp playing and particularly enjoyed working on my duet for harp and cello. I definitely want to participate again this year.”
